From free time to finished job, step by step.
GapCrew connects two sides. Workers say when they are free. Employers post short-term jobs. The match is made on trade, availability and distance, and the people involved make the decisions.
GapCrew is an online marketplace in Washington's Puget Sound region where workers in construction trades and labor say when they are free, and employers post short-term jobs that reach the people who are actually available.

How a job finds its workers
Matching is a set of simple rules, applied the same way to everyone.
Free for each day's hours
A job can run on 1 to 14 days. A worker's free time, including adjacent blocks, must cover each day's hours. The nights between days do not need to be free. A booked block does not count as free.
Within range
The straight-line distance between ZIP code centers must fall within the worker's own travel distance, never more than 50 miles. An employer can narrow the list of workers they browse and invite.
Ordered simply
Nearest first, then more years in the trade. Nothing about earlier declines, cancellations, responses or ratings is read.
Respond, confirm, work, review
- A worker respondsOnly to a job they currently match. They can withdraw before being confirmed.
- The employer confirmsConfirmation fills a place and tells both sides. When all places are filled, the job closes to new responses.
- Both sides can messageMessaging opens for a confirmed booking.
- The worker checks in and outTimes are recorded, with an offline option that is marked as such.
- Hours can be correctedEither side can suggest a correction; the other confirms it. The original is kept.
- Both sides can reviewReviews appear together, or after 14 days.
No penalty for saying no
Workers can decline any job. Either side can cancel a confirmed booking with a reason from a fixed list, and the other side is told. No score, flag or ranking effect is applied, and cancelling never appears in a rating. Read what happens when plans change.
