Trust and safety

Job site safety

GapCrew does not supervise job sites. Here is who is responsible for what, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Who is responsible for safety

GapCrew is a marketplace. It introduces workers and employers and provides the tools. It does not run, supervise or inspect job sites, and it does not direct how work is done.

  • Employers are responsible for a safe site, for safe tools and equipment, and for any training or protective gear the work needs.
  • Workers are responsible for the way they do their own work, and for telling the employer if they cannot do something safely.

You can say no

A worker may decline any job, and may leave work that is unsafe. Cancelling for a safety reason is a normal reason to give. It carries no penalty from GapCrew and never appears in a rating or review.

Before and during a job

  • Go to the address on your confirmed booking.
  • Agree the work, the hours and the pay with the other side before you start.
  • Ask about hazards, tools and protective gear before the day, not on it.
  • If something is not what was described, say so, and cancel with a reason if you need to.

In an emergency

Call 911. GapCrew cannot send help, and nobody at GapCrew is watching your job site.

Report a problem

  • Report a conversation from Messages with Report this conversation.
  • Report a review that is about you with Report this review.
  • For anything else, email support@gapcrew.com or call (425) 592-3724. Do not use email to ask for emergency help.
