Trust and safety
Community guidelines
Simple rules for workers and employers, so a short job goes the way both sides expect.
For everyone
- Be honest. Use your real details. Describe the job, the pay and your skills as they are.
- Show up, or cancel early. If you cannot make a booking, cancel as soon as you know and give the reason. Cancelling with a reason carries no penalty from GapCrew, and it is never shown in a rating or review.
- Keep contact details out of chat until after the job. Messages are for the booked job. GapCrew tries to block phone numbers and email addresses, but the filter is not perfect.
- No discrimination. Do not treat anyone worse because of who they are. That includes race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability or family status.
- No unsafe work. Do not ask for, or agree to, work that puts someone in danger. See job site safety.
- Be respectful. No abuse, threats or harassment, in messages or in reviews.
Workers
- Respond only to jobs you can do and are free for.
- You may decline any job. There is no penalty for declining or ignoring an invitation.
- Keep your availability up to date so employers see who is really free.
Employers
- Post jobs with the real trade, place, time and pay.
- You confirm the workers you want. GapCrew does not pick anyone for you.
- Pay workers directly, as agreed. GapCrew does not collect or pass on wages.
Reviews
- After a job, each side can write a short review about how it went.
- Both reviews stay hidden until both are written, or until 14 days have passed, whichever comes first. This keeps people from writing in reply to each other.
- You can change your review once, while it is still hidden. After it is shown, it cannot be changed or deleted.
- Do not post anything abusive, untrue or private. Cancelling a job is never a reason for a lower rating.
How to report
- A conversation: open it in Messages and choose Report this conversation. Say what is wrong. The other person is not told.
- A review: if a shown review is about you, use Report this review on it, pick a reason, and send. A report changes nothing by itself.
- Anything else: email support@gapcrew.com.
What GapCrew may do
A GapCrew administrator looks at reports. If rules are broken, GapCrew may warn someone, hide a review, limit an account, or close it. GapCrew does not promise a time for a reply.
Closing an account
You can close your own account from the Me tab. If you close by mistake, ask us within 30 days and an administrator can reopen it. After that it stays closed. The Privacy page says what is kept.
