Terms of Use

The terms for using GapCrew, in plain language.

Version v1, effective 2 November 2026.

What GapCrew is

GapCrew LLC runs GapCrew, an online marketplace around Puget Sound, Washington. Workers say when they are free, employers post short-term jobs, and an employer can confirm the workers they want. GapCrew introduces the two sides and provides the tools. It is not a staffing agency and it is not the employer of any worker.

Workers are independent

Workers use GapCrew as independent people offering their time. Each worker decides which jobs to respond to, and may decline any job. The employer who confirms a worker decides what work is needed, and the worker and employer agree the details of the job between them. GapCrew does not direct how work is done, and wages are paid by the employer to the worker directly; worker wages do not pass through GapCrew.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to use GapCrew.
  • You sign in with a phone number that receives a code. You must be able to receive text messages at that number.
  • Give accurate details, keep your phone secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
  • You may start as a worker or an employer and add the other profile later.

Jobs, bookings and what is shown to whom

  • A job runs on 1 to 14 days within 31 days. It shows its trade, its days and times, pay, and an approximate area (city and ZIP). Workers see approximate distance, for example "about 12 miles away".
  • The exact job address is shown only to the employer who posted the job and to a worker whose booking is confirmed.
  • Before a booking is confirmed, worker names are masked: employers see a first name and last initial only. Employers' business names are shown.
  • Declining a job, or cancelling before or after a booking, carries no penalty from GapCrew. Cancelling is never shown in a rating or review.

Pay and the law

  • The employer sets the pay per hour in the job post. It must be at least the Washington state minimum wage for the job's dates, and GapCrew will not post a job with a lower rate.
  • Some cities have a higher minimum wage. GapCrew may warn an employer about it, but the employer decides which rate applies to them.
  • Employers are responsible for every duty the law gives them for the work they post, including pay, overtime, taxes, workers' compensation and insurance where they apply, site safety, permits, and the legal status of the people they work with. GapCrew does not decide whether a worker is an employed worker or an independent contractor.

Payments and fees

GapCrew is free for employers and workers at launch. It charges no fees and takes no card payments. Employers pay workers directly, and worker wages never pass through GapCrew. If GapCrew ever starts charging, these terms will change first, and any fee will be shown in the app before anything is charged.

Verification

ID and license checks, and profile photos, are not available yet. GapCrew does not ask for identity or license documents and does not run criminal background checks. Nothing on a profile is a guarantee of anyone's skill, conduct or legal standing.

Messages, reviews and behaviour

  • Messages between people with a booking are stored in the app. Keep them about the job. GapCrew tries to block phone numbers and email addresses in messages, but the filter is not perfect.
  • Reviews describe how a job went. Do not post anything abusive, untrue or private about another person.
  • Anyone can report a conversation or a review. A GapCrew administrator looks at reports and may hide a review or limit an account that breaks these terms.

Text messages and alerts

Text messages are optional, and you can use GapCrew without them. Account and booking texts and new-job texts are separate choices that you can change at any time in Text and phone alerts. Phone alerts are not available yet; you see other updates in the app. Reply STOP to a text to stop texts, and HELP for help. If you replied STOP, text START to the number GapCrew texts you from to get sign-in codes again. Other texts stay off until you turn them on in the app. Message and data rates may apply. Sign-in codes are sent because you ask for one and are not marketing.

Problems between workers and employers

GapCrew is not a party to the agreement between a worker and an employer and does not guarantee a job, a worker's attendance, or payment. Please contact us if something goes wrong and we will look at what we can reasonably do.

Limits on GapCrew's responsibility

GapCrew is provided "as is". We work to keep it running and accurate, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors.

GapCrew is not a party to any arrangement between an employer and a worker, and is not responsible for the work, pay, conduct or safety of either side.

To the extent the law allows, GapCrew LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost work, and its total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid GapCrew in the 12 months before the claim. GapCrew is free at launch, so that amount is nothing.

Changes, closing an account, and law

We may change these terms and will post the new version here with its version and effective date. You can stop using GapCrew at any time. We may limit or close an account that breaks these terms. Washington law governs these terms.
